Dipper
Mixed media on canvas
38 X 50in (framed)
Created and inspired from video footage of a friend’s bay located in Lund / Kla ah men. Footage has been frozen in many narrow shots and compiled together to create a “fractured” landscape. Areas such as this have had thousands of years of human interaction with the land. Growing up on the coast there were many summers spent in bays such as this. They are so often littered with old glass, metal, shell and other objects that hold memory and curiosity. This bay reminded me of all those childhood memories of boating up Desolation Sound - the treasures that held more questions than answers, the smell of salt and sea, the overwhelming feeling of diving beneath chill water, the purest skies and the brightest stars.
From the two outermost stars of the Big Dipper one may always find their way North.
